Abstract

  • Imports in August 2024 reached USD 1.20 billion, a decrease of 1.19 percent compared to July 2024.
  • West Java's exports in August 2024 totaled USD 3.53 billion, an increase of 6.12 percent compared to July 2024, and a rise of 2.26 percent compared to August 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in August 2024 reached USD 3.51 billion, up 6.73 percent compared to July 2024, while oil and gas exports fell by 47.55 percent.
  • Cumulatively, West Java's exports from January to August 2024 reached USD 24.84 billion, an increase of 1.07 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Non-oil and gas exports reached USD 24.62 billion, up 1.06 percent.
  • The largest increase in non-oil and gas exports in August 2024 compared to July 2024 occurred in the Electrical Machinery and Equipment category, which rose by USD 56.39 million, followed by the Mechanical Machinery and Equipment category, which rose by USD 55.53 million, and the Knitted Goods category, which increased by USD 20.13 million.
  • From January to August 2024, export values by sector increased by 2.77 percent in the oil and gas sector and 1.15 percent in the industrial sector. However, the agricultural sector and the mining and other sectors saw declines of 13.74 percent and 28.15 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in the previous year.
  • Non-oil and gas imports in August 2024 amounted to USD 1.02 billion, a decrease of 4.10 percent compared to July 2024, but an increase of 23.81 percent compared to August 2023.
  • Oil and gas imports in August 2024 totaled USD 183.20 million, up 18.97 percent compared to July 2024, and a 23.81 percent increase compared to August 2023.
  • The largest decrease in non-oil and gas imports in August 2024 compared to July 2024 occurred in the Vehicles and Parts category, which fell by USD 39.32 million, followed by the Machinery and Knitted Fabrics category, which decreased by USD 23.51 million, and the Electrical Machinery and Equipment category, which declined by USD 18.51 million.
  • The largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imports from January to August 2024 were China, with a value of USD 2.41 billion (33.26 percent), followed by Japan with USD 1.17 billion (16.15 percent), and South Korea with USD 956.72 million (13.18 percent).
  • The import values by end-use category in August 2024 increased compared to the same month in the previous year, with a 2.68 percent increase in consumption goods, a 30.96 percent increase in raw materials/auxiliary materials, and a 1.72 percent increase in capital goods.
  • West Java's trade balance in August 2024 showed a surplus of USD 2.33 billion, bringing the cumulative surplus from January to August 2024 to USD 16.23 billion.
