Indonesia's Middle Class is Hard to Get Rich but Prone to Poverty

Are you in the middle class?

BPS data shows that the poverty rate continued to decline to 9.03 percent as of March 2024, the lowest in a decade. But ironically, the number of middle class people has also decreased dramatically. Over the past five years, 9.48 million people have dropped out of the middle class.
